About

  • This site provides a daily account of the various projects currently under development at the Sid Lee Collective. A brainchild of Sid Lee, our creative incubator develops, catalyses, promotes and finances various projects that push the notion of Commercial CreativityTM to its limits, and, we hope, beyond.

We offer bursaries and support to our artisans to make their ideas happen. We also welcome submissions from external collaborators. Contact us to submit a project or learn more about the collective.

Art Souterrain

Sid lee Collective was a part of the Montreal High Lights Festival true Art Souterrain project last weekend. Alvaro Perez Del Solar drew on some of our blackboards with all his family and friends, live in the Eaton Centre. Here's some pictures of the result.

Still Life at Gallery SAS

Realdolls_140

From February 4th to March 13th, JF Bouchard (Sid Lee’s president) presents his third photography exhibition at Gallery SAS .

Still Life explores the surprising relationships that people maintain with vibrantly realistic erotic dolls - beyond sexuality. Treated as spouses in every respect, these female replicas play a role in the daily emotional lives of an ever-increasing number of men.

The iDollators, the term they coined to refer to themselves, form a lesser-known but active online community where advice is exchanged on matters ranging from the romantic to the technical.

This group is one of the many modern sub-cultures that Jean-François Bouchard depicts in his photographs. For Still Life, he chose a more abstract representation of this reality but kept a journalistic approach by researching the owners’ varied points of view on their relationships with the dolls.

Exhibition presented by Gallery SAS in collaboration with Sid Lee Collective.

Tender 'N Tasty

Webflyer01front
On the 29th of January Sid Lee Collective Amsterdam presents a finger-licking opening of the exhibition by fine artist Joe Holbrook.

What happens at night when everybody is left wandering home? After the clubs have blasted their last basses, after the fried chicken take away's are attacked by hungry hipsters? The city is left with the residue of nightly escapades. .

“I've been noticing every time you get in a bus or tube in London nowadays somebody is eating out of a chicken box. And nobody really sees it, if you know what I mean?”

In the new exhibition Tender 'N Tasty fine artist Joe Holbrook searches for these residues. He finds vultures roaming the streets, deers wondering around town and heaps of empty and half full chicken boxes. In his realistic painting style Joe knows how to capture the energy and dynamics of his spirit of time. For the exhibition Joe created eight new bodies of work, plus 4 framed drawings that have all been created in his London studio. Joe doesn't only observe and document the world that he sees, he lives that world.
